Our StoryPhillip grew up with the kind of “Bubbie “ (a Jewish Grandmother) who made everything from hamentaschen to kugel to honey cake to – you guessed it – chocolate matzo! Inspired by his childhood memories of great Jewish eats, Phillip jumped at the chance to learn how to make homemade toffee-chocolate-matzo when his friend Cheryl taught him during Passover for a grad school Seder they were attending, many moons ago. Before long, Phillip was making toffee-chocolate-matzo for more than just Passover. For Rosh Hashanah, for birthday parties, heck, he was even making it for Christmas parties!
Phillip’s friend Abby first tried it when he brought some to her mother
Ruth’s annual Passover seder in 2006 and had the brilliant idea that a.) The
Jewish community needed better quality, scrumptious Passover desserts like this
addictive toffee-chocolate-matzo that she couldn’t get enough of and b.) that
this was something everyone could enjoy, Jewish or not, Passover or Hanukkah or
even just on a weekend afternoon with friends and loved ones.
Before long, Matzel Toff! was born and a line of scrumptious varieties became so popular, they were featured on the likes of Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray and The Today Show. In 2012 two new products (Matzel Bits! and Holy Macaroon!) were born and as a result, their parent company, Urban Nosh was created. Urban Nosh is today pleased to offer you these three quality kosher confection lines: Matzel Toff!, Matzel Bits! and Holy Macaroon! – inspired by his Bubbie Edith and the need for better kosher desserts everywhere.
